Santa Rosa is spread out enough that a bus trip can feel confusing if you only look at one route at a time. CityBus is meant to work as a local network, with fixed routes inside city limits and buses that meet at regular transfer places.
The downtown Transit Mall is the main hub. It sits on Second Street between B Street and Mendocino Avenue, and it connects CityBus with regional services like Sonoma County Transit, Golden Gate Transit, and Mendocino Transit. A trip from a Santa Rosa neighborhood into the wider Sonoma County system often turns on that handoff.
