Oyster Point makes South San Francisco a ferry-and-rail commute stop

South San FranciscoOyster PointCaltrain

South San Francisco has two commute clues that help the city make sense. One is the Caltrain station on Dubuque Avenue. The other is the ferry terminal at Oyster Point, closer to the job centers east of Highway 101.

Oyster Point ferry service connects with the East Bay, including Jack London Square and Alameda stops in current commute patterns. Caltrain gives the city a rail stop on the Peninsula line, with pedestrian access from both sides of the station area.

Those two systems do not make every trip simple, but they show why South San Francisco has more going on than drive-in job centers. A commute here may involve rail, ferry, shuttle, bike, or a short last-mile plan. Schedules can change by season and service demand, so check the ferry and Caltrain pages before building a routine.
