South Gate's GATE buses fill in local trips

South GateGATE buseslocal transitTAP

South Gate’s local bus system is called GATE. It helps fill in trips that a big regional transit map may not explain clearly. The system has Westside and Eastside routes serving the greater South Gate and Hollydale areas.

That can matter for errands, school, appointments, shopping, or getting closer to a Metro bus or rail connection. South Gate sits in a busy part of southeast Los Angeles County. A short local ride can make the difference between an easy trip and a long walk along a major street.

The route PDFs are the place to use for stops and timing. The city’s transportation pages also point residents to Transit Services at the Sports Center. They also explain TAP help for people who qualify for reduced Metro fares. That is separate from the GATE route map, but both can matter if you use local and regional transit together.

Use the city pages close to the day you ride. Holiday service, route details, and office hours are the parts most likely to affect a real trip.
