Santa MonicaState BeachBeach Rules

Santa Monica State Beach is easy to picture, but the practical details still matter. The beach stretches more than three miles and covers about 245 acres of sand.

The beach is managed by the City of Santa Monica and California State Parks. Amenities include restrooms, benches, public art, volleyball courts, and walking paths. Dogs are not allowed on the beach.

The city also limits e-scooters on beach bike paths, the Pier, Third Street Promenade, Ocean Front Walk, and municipal parks. Check the current page before assuming a wheel, pet, or parking plan will work.
