Pasadena permit work can often begin online
Pasadena's Permit Center Online lets many project applicants submit permits, plans, and related materials without starting at the counter.
Pasadena’s Permit Center Online can save a trip when a project fits the online path. The city uses it for items such as subtrade permits and plan submittals for new construction, conversions, tenant improvements, accessory dwelling units, and additions.
That does not make every project simple, especially in Pasadena. Older homes, historic areas, hillside lots, trees, garages, ADUs, and commercial spaces can add planning, building, fire, or public works review. The online permit page is still a better first move than guessing which counter to call.
Before applying, gather the property address, project scope, contractor information, owner authorization if needed, plans, and any prior permit details. If the project touches a historic property, public right-of-way, fire system, drainage, or business use, expect extra review. Use the permit center page to choose the right application path before uploading.
