Yuba City water rules are lighter now, but waste still counts

Yuba Citywaterrebates

Yuba City moved back to Stage 1, called a Water Alert, after mandatory water restrictions were lifted in April 2023. That means the city is not asking customers to hit a mandatory cutback target right now, but water waste still counts.

Everyday waste examples include watering within 48 hours after rain, flooding gutters, washing hard surfaces, using a hose without a shutoff nozzle, running a fountain that does not recirculate, or leaving leaks unrepaired. Those are the kinds of details that can surprise people, because they are more about habits than big projects.

There is also a rebate path for qualified residential customers who receive City of Yuba City water. Applications need receipts and a postmark within 90 days, and the program depends on available funds. Some projects can require a post-installation inspection.

For a lawn change, fixture swap, or leak repair, think of it as two lanes: avoid obvious waste, and look at the rebate rules before spending money on a project you hope will qualify.
