Moonlight Amphitheatre gives Vista a stage under the trees
Moonlight Amphitheatre in Brengle Terrace Park gives Vista a roomy outdoor stage, lawn seating, summer theater, concerts, and a local arts tradition that began with city-backed productions in the early 1980s.
Vista has one of those local places that feels special partly because it is outdoors. Moonlight Amphitheatre sits in Brengle Terrace Park, with fixed seats, lawn seating, park trees, and the kind of evening setting that makes a show feel different from a regular indoor theater.
The venue has 908 permanent seats and lawn seating for 1,092 more, for a total capacity of 2,000. That gives it enough room for a real crowd while still feeling connected to the park around it. The city also lists dressing rooms, a stage, a rehearsal room, a patio, concessions, parking, restrooms, and ADA access.
The local theater story goes back to the early 1980s. A summer theater effort grew from city and school-district productions, and in 1984 the Vista Summer Theatre Festival came under the city’s umbrella and took the Moonlight Amphitheatre name. Later, the venue was rebuilt in 2008 and 2009, then expanded into more concerts in 2014.
For Vista, that makes Moonlight a park landmark, a summer tradition, and an easy way to understand how North County cities often mix parks, arts, and family nights in one place.
