Sonoma Coast is a string of beach stops

Sonoma Coast works best as a chain of stops, not one single beach. The drive, the headlands, the coves, and the small choices are part of the day.

Sonoma Coast State Park is a series of beaches from Bodega Bay toward the Russian River. Along the way are headlands, natural arches, tide pools, camping, winter whale watching, and several Highway 1 beach stops between Jenner and Bodega Bay.

Pick one or two access points before you leave, especially if you are bringing kids, a picnic, or a dog. Then check fees, passes, bathrooms, camping details, beach rules, and ocean notes. The coast is beautiful, and a little planning makes the visit calmer.
