San Ramon permits and business licenses start in CSS
San Ramon's CSS system is the first online stop for many permit and business license applications, inspection requests, invoices, and project status checks.
San Ramon puts many permit and license chores in CSS. That is the online account system. Use it if you are opening a business, changing a tenant space, planning a remodel, or checking an inspection.
CSS handles permit applications and business license applications. After you sign in, you can check permit information. You can also request inspections, estimate some fees, and pay invoices tied to the account.
Slow down on the permit type. San Ramon tells users to pick carefully because the type cannot be changed after the form is sent. That small click can cause extra back-and-forth later.
Before you open CSS, gather the address, owner contact, project description, and any plan files. If a contractor is involved, keep that information close too.
For a business space, write the activity in normal words. Salon, office, restaurant, and retail are easier to sort than a vague label. If the portal choice is not clear, the Building and Safety Services page gives the Permit Center email and phone number.

California Porch explains the path. The official source is still the place to confirm the current rule, fee, form, map, deadline, or office decision.
Use the official page before you spend money, file paperwork, rely on a deadline, or change a property.
