Salinas utilities split between water companies and city trash rules

Salinas utility questions split between private water companies, PG&E electric service, and Republic Services for city-contracted trash and recycling service.

Salinasutilitiestrash

Salinas utility questions are easier once you split them by service. Water is not one city account for every home. Many residents deal with Alco Water Service or California Water Service, and the right company depends on the address.

Electric service is PG&E. Trash and recycling are handled by Republic Services of Salinas under the city program.

When you move in, start with the exact service you need: water, electric, or carts. For regular home trash service, the weekly setup includes trash, recycling, and yard waste carts.

Keep the address handy, especially if you are not sure which water company serves the home. In Salinas, the first call can change from one address to the next.
