Riverside building permits can be handled through the public portal
Riverside's Public Permit Portal supports online applications, plan submittals, fee payments, permit tracking, issuance steps, inspections, and results.
For work at a Riverside address, Building and Safety is the city lane for permits, plan review, inspections, codes, and permit records. The Public Permit Portal is the online workbench for much of that process.
The portal can handle applications, electronic plans, fee payments, progress checks, permit issue steps, inspections, and results. That is useful in a city with historic blocks, newer subdivisions, business corridors, hillsides, and many home projects.
Sort the review level early. A simple permit question is different from a project with plans. Plan check, inspections, and permit records each have their own links. Fees can depend on the scope of work, so the permit counter can help with fee questions.
If you are looking up an older permit or today’s inspection, use those record and inspection paths. That is different from starting a new application. It keeps a quick lookup from turning into a longer permit task.
Before you start, gather the address. Add a short description of the work, any plans or documents, and the owner or contractor information. If the project crosses planning, building, or code questions, get the right contact before uploading the wrong package.

California Porch explains the path. The official source is still the place to confirm the current rule, fee, form, map, deadline, or office decision.
Use the official page before you spend money, file paperwork, rely on a deadline, or change a property.
