Almanac note · Outdoors
Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear Ranch is Gilroy's big lake-and-ranch park
Gilroy’s big outdoor anchor sits outside the city parks inside town. Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear Ranch County Park spreads across the hills east of Gilroy and gives the area a lake, ranchland trails, and foothill views.
Coyote Lake is the water center. The state boating facility page points boaters to the Coyote Reservoir launch area on Coyote Lake Road, while Gilroy visitor information points people toward the larger county park setting. Fishing, boating, trails, camping, and hill views are all part of the draw.
This is a park where details matter before you tow, paddle, or make a long drive. Boating season, vessel inspection rules, lake access, and closures can change. For a water day, check the current boating and park information first.
