Almanac note · Rules and licenses
Citrus Heights business licenses go through several city reviews
Citrus Heights business license work can be done online, but the license still needs the right local review. That review can involve Building and Safety, Planning, Police, and Finance, depending on what the business does and where it operates.
Those reviews can touch home businesses, storefronts, signs, massage permits, planning permits, and building work. A business can have a license question and a separate permit question at the same time.
If you are opening in a commercial space, write down the address, suite number, business activity, sign plans, customer visits, and whether any construction or equipment changes are planned. If you are working from home, say that clearly and check the home occupation rules.
The online license path is useful, but do the location check early. It is easier to change plans before a lease, sign order, or remodel is already moving.
