The Kern River Parkway gives Bakersfield a long outdoor thread
Bakersfield spreads out across the valley. The Kern River Parkway gives the city a simple outdoor line to follow. It keeps the river in the picture, with parks, paths, and bike information close by.
Bakersfield’s park system includes 59 parks, the Kern River Parkway, and Centennial Plaza. Its biking resources also include a Kern River Parkway brochure, which helps make the corridor easier to plan around.
For a first visit, pick one park or one trail stretch. You do not need to cover the whole corridor. In the valley, timing matters too. Mornings, evenings, shade, and water can make a simple walk or ride feel much easier.
Before you head out, confirm park facilities, rules, reservations, biking information, and any trail notices.
